President's Message

Greetings and Happy New Year, TxPPA members and visitors to the TxPPA website!

We’ve made it through another challenging year dealing with the ongoing issues brought on by COVID-19. The resiliency of public procurement professionals has never been more evident than it has been these last two-plus years.

As we enter 2023, many of us continue to see challenges. Whatever your challenges are, be assured that your peers within the TxPPA organization are here to support you. Through the organization’s list serv, TxPPA Connect, you can access hundreds of public purchasing professionals across the state who are here to help you with these challenges. The TxPPA job board is easy to use and reaches hundreds of public purchasing professionals throughout the state. I hope you will take advantage of these great resources that are available as part of your TxPPA membership.

In 2022, TxPPA provided great educational opportunities to our members through the awesome summer conference in Galveston and the outstanding and record-breaking fall conference in San Marcos.

In 2023, we have a conference scheduled for the Spring in Waco, May 8-11, 2023 (check out the website for more information). We are negotiating with a property in the DFW area for our Fall conference (much more information to come). Mark your calendars and plan on joining us at both of these great venues! Watch for more details to come.  We are also launching both in-person and virtual professional development opportunities that will be announced very soon!

I’m honored to serve as the TxPPA President in 2023, and excited about the new members of the Board that will lead our association.

I encourage each of you also to review the volunteer opportunities available to serve on one of the committees supporting TxPPA by clicking here. The TxPPA organization is only as strong as those members who serve, and we need great leaders for 2023 and beyond!

We could not have made it through these last few years without the outstanding leadership provided by our immediate past presidents, Cindy White and Tim Slifka.  Take a moment to reach out to them in the near future and thank them for their tireless efforts!

Wishing you all a blessed 2023!
